How to Change Maximum Player Slots in FiveM

How to Change Maximum Player Slots in FiveM | EUGameHost

Adjust your server’s player slots to control how many players can join at once.

This is important for scaling your community and managing server performance.

Difficulty: Beginner
Time Required: 3 Minutes

Understanding Player Slots

Player slots determine how many players can be connected to your server at the same time.

Examples:

  • 32 players → small community
  • 48 players → standard limit
  • 64+ players → large servers

Log in to your EUGameHost Game Panel.

Go to:

Startup

Find the setting:

Max Players

Enter your desired slot count.

Example:

48

Save your changes.

Restart Your Server

After updating the slots, restart your server from the panel.

Your new player limit will apply immediately.

Method 2: Change Slots in server.cfg

You can also set player slots manually inside your server.cfg.

Add or edit this line:

sv_maxclients 48

Replace 48 with your desired number of players.

Slot Limits & Requirements

1–48 Players

  • Supported on any standard FiveM setup
  • No additional requirements

49+ Players

To go above 48 players, you will need:

  • A valid license key
  • OneSync enabled
  • Proper server resources

Performance Considerations

Increasing player slots increases load on your server.

Higher slots require:

  • More CPU power
  • More RAM
  • Better network performance

If your server cannot handle the load, you may experience:

  • Lag
  • Desync
  • Script delays
  • Crashes

Best Practice

  • Stay at 32–48 slots for stable performance on most servers
  • Only increase slots if your server is optimized and tested
  • Scale gradually instead of jumping straight to high player counts
