To remove a directory in Linux, use the rmdir
command for empty directories: rmdir foldername
. If the directory contains files or other directories, use rm -r foldername
. The -r
flag means recursive deletion. Be cautious when using rm -r
as it permanently deletes files and cannot be undone. Adding -f
(rm -rf
) forces deletion without prompts.
